Cooling is the fastest growing area of data center supply infrastructure. The cost of running a data center is significantly affected by the cooling solution chosen, so the driving force for improvements is to increase energy efficiency and reduce operating costs, which is much needed in the face of rising energy prices. Where comfort equipment (split air-conditioning or fan-coil) has been used to cool server rooms, or older generation compressor cooling has been recognized as energy wasting and has opened up to more targeted, yet cost-effective solutions. However, it can be concluded that even for a new system with good operating curves, energy efficiency can be significantly increased by adding or fine-tuning intelligent controls.

Our collaboration can start not only with concept design, but also with site selection, which can have a major impact on the potential for renewable energy use, whether it is for cooling energy storage, waste heat recovery, groundwater and groundwater-based cooling technologies or geometrical passive ventilation options for buildings.
