Power supply and Uninterruptedness

Power supply and Cooling – PUE is the winning solution

One of the most basic components of data centres and server rooms is energy supply, whose precise and professional design, implementation and operation is dealt with the H1 Systems team every day. Improving the so-called PUE number is often defined as a goal in projects, as this way we can tangibly reduce the additional costs and increase the efficiency of our entire system. The PUE number shows how much shall be spent on the server infrastructure for one unit of energy used to run the servers. The closer we get to 1, the more cost-effective our operation is, however, it is worth turning to us because, on the one hand, the critical supply systems must be tested on the whole, since they must always be synchronized, working together, and on the other hand, striving for the lower possible PUE number should not be at the expense of availability and security aspects, several experts need to examine the server room elements in several ways so that the professionally established balance really means sustainable and efficient operation of the systems while achieving the lowest possible PUE value.

Scaling Uninterruptible (UPS) equipment is a key issue in availability

In case of current outage, short uninterruptible bridging ensures the maintenance of availability without loss until the generators and emergency power supplies are switched on. A common mistake is that it is not scaled properly, it cannot be expanded, and it is not modular. It also means proper scaling, primarily scalability. It is important to cover the energy demand in a large enough, but not too large range, to eliminate fluctuations. In case of under scaling, the system can withstand little time, so the generator does not take over the load quickly enough to avoid downtime, but this is the rarer error. Oversizing is more common, however, it is a widespread misconception that it increases operational safety. Since UPS devices usually power only IT devices, but do not or only partially serve for cooling, so the operating temperature can often go above 40 degrees in about 10 minutes, when not only the servers will shut down, but even more serious problems may occur. UPS is the supply system that causes most data centres to shut down after human errors, so you need to be very careful about them. H1 Systems experts help you in scaling, they coordinate the system based on the big image, especially UPS scaling.

Customized and future-proof solutions from H1 Systems up to Uptime Tier III

For a complete power supply system, it is essential that the distribution network, uninterruptible equipment (UPS) and auxiliary systems (aggregators) are provided as a single system. Since there are no universally good solutions, H1 Systems also helps you calculate and configure the server systems and helps you select the equipment needed for the required operation and availability level according to customer requirements. We define and set the level of security that we match to the highest standard available from your budget. H1 Systems built Hungary’s first certified Uptime Tier III system, too.
